HDF follows a transparent and scholar-backed approach to Zakat distribution. Our Zakat Policy was written by Dr. Joe Bradford and reviewed by a committee of scholars including Sh. AbdulNasir Jangda, Dr. Tahir Wyatt, Mufti Hussain Kamani, and Dr. Waleed Al-Maneese. All policies and activities are overseen by a Shariah Advisory Board to ensure full compliance with Islamic principles.
Where no state-appointed Zakat authority exists, HDF assumes that role, upholding rigorous standards of governance and transparency. All donations to HDF are considered Zakat-eligible unless explicitly marked as Sadaqah. Zakat funds are distributed strictly according to the eight Quranic categories, prioritizing the poor and needy, and are used for direct support to widows, orphans, refugees, and disaster victims, as well as initiatives addressing food security, healthcare, and education.
HDF undergoes an independent external audit annually, and financial reports are made available to donors and the general public.
